individualism = narcissism? I don't think so.

So i read this article*(can be found at the bottom of the post)* about how apparently parents in America are picking more unique name's for their children. And some researcher is talking this mess about how apparently we're trying to make our children stick out more, which could possibly lead to personality traits later in life like narcissism..... Are you kidding me? And apparently this pattern just proves that we have a narcissistic country ect ect. This is the biggest load of shit I've read all day!

I'm not one of those people that blend into a crowd and follow along silently, why should my child? To me this article just screams, "follow every rule with out questions, blend in, keep your head down." Ummmm no..... Absolutely not. I was taught to question EVERYTHING and I will teach my daughter to do the same thing. If it doesn't make sense then question it. And I'm definitely not just a sheep in the herd nor do I see that for my daughter. Like why WOULDN'T you want your child to be unique and maintain individually? I 100% support free thinking, thinking outside the box, and you know what...bending the rules sometimes IS a good thing.

I mean come one, if the founder of this country had kept their heads down, didn't question anything, and just blended in with the crowd.....we wouldn't be known as the United States of America right now.....more like the United States of England.

So dear writer's of this article,

WTF.

Sincerely,

Brandyie Marie

Would a lion cheat? No but a Tiger Wood!

Let's take a moment to talk about Tiger Woods..... By this point in time I think we've ALL see Tiger Wood's ''apology'' if you can even call it that. Now he has been accused of cheating on his gorgeous wife with multitudes of other women..... Now let's talk about this very FORCED public apology.... I think it's JUST that....very forced. He did what all other celebrities do cry a little bit, apologize, and blame it alllll on an addiction. I'll tell you exactly what will happen.... He'll go to rehab for a few months, then everyone will feel sorry for him because he can't help himself because of this ''addiction.'' Then he'll get out....... and it all will be forgotten! I swear crying addiction is the biggest celebrity scapegoat there is. "oh i talked shit about jews bc i'm a drunk" "I have a coke addiction that why i act like a crazy bitch!" yada yada yada

It just pisses me off....that he had it ALL going for him, a gorgeous wife, a kid, fame, fortune ect ect... and he goes and fucks it all away!

Make Up - Airbrushing

So considering I am going to go into the cosmetology field I've been looking around at airbrushing make up kits. Seeing what all the buzz is about....and ladies I fell in love! Air brushing is what is using on all the stars and models to give that perfectly smooth look. If done right you have seamless natural looking make up. That " I just rolled out of bed and look this damn good" look every girl wants!

Here are some before and after pictures i just loved
http://www.airbrushmakeup.com/before_after/

Air brushing can be used on all types of skin, and used to cover things like scars,
blemishes, tattoo's, and many other skin imperfections.

Air brushing isn't just for foundation though! You can use it for eye shadow,
eye liner, blush, concealer, lip stick, eye lashes, AND on hair!

I just absolutely fell in love! I really would loooove to be able to get an airbrush kit
now but with my current situation it's not possible! So any donations would be much
appreciated and go toward my airbrush kit as well as keeping me able to update my blog!

How far is too far - Video games

Okay I was born in the 90's i grew up playing Super Mario on NES, Mario Kart on N64 and the forever classic Zelda : Ocarina of Time. Now I'm 19 years of age, and my little brother whom is 14 is playing the PS3. He plays theses war games online and it kind of shocks me when he told me about theses games. The game he is playing now is Call of Duty : Modern Warfare. You use a long list of weapons which include nuclear and biological warfare to kill your ''enemies." I was also told that there is a mission in this game that you go through an airport only killing civilians. Now I looked this up and it IS INDEED in the game. You have the option to skip this mission due to the graphic nature of it.... You are placed in the shoes of a terrorist and openly slaughter hundreds of innocent people.

How in the world did that get okay'd??? I understand that there is an age restriction on such games, but come on how many parents are going to buy it for their children because they want them. I hear all the time that video games are too violent yada yada. Yet we still make video games like this?

Now the argument with this is that Grand Theft Auto is MUCH more violent and graphic then this. But that isn't even a valid argument. Since when is it okay to glamorize slaughtering civilians? The point is that THIS is what we are giving to our children and teenagers. Granted it IS the responsibility of the parents to monitor what their children play, but why even make games like this? Day after day i read in the news about teenagers and children being arrested for murder. Like in a world so full of violence already do we really need a fantasy world with MORE violence in it?

The Interesting Industry of Embalming

So I was watching CSI, and something came on about embalming. So it made me think....how exactly is embalming done? So I looked it up thanks to trusty Google*, and it really made me start thinking.... When we did start such invasive procedure? Back in the old days you put two coins on the deads eyes and cremated them. Most countries it isn't law to embalm, which is another odd things Americans do. I mean I understand the reason for embalming, so that we can mourn our dead, and view them and what not, but uh! I don't want that to happen to me! Very invasive, plus like dude I'm already dead....whats the point? Just like how i don't get it when people spend THOUSANDS of dollars on caskets, burial plots, funerals in general. Like it's on thing to respect the dead but good lord! My views on it, hey I'm dead cremate me! Just the random thoughts for today!

Sex & Society

I've been thinking lately a lot about sex in our society. On one hand sex is glamorized by Hollywood, and the media. On the other hand sex is still considered such a taboo subject. Movies/TV shows like "Sex in the City" (which i just happen to love!) is one of those shows that make sex a normal ever day thing. They make a ''taboo'' subject acceptable to talk about in a SOCIAL setting and I love it! We live in 2010.... why should sex be considered a hush hush thing? Granted I'm not saying go and have sex with everything that moves! But I don't get why in this day and age it should be shameful to speak out? The way my best friend and I am reminds me a lot of the ladies from "Sex in the City''. We speak about sex like it's absolutely no big deal. I just don't get what the point of being so secretive about sex is? It is a perfectly normal and natural thing. Now there are definitely the wrong and right times for certain conversations, but if you are out to lunch or dinner with friends I don't understand why a tasteful conversation about sex is given dirty and shocked looks? Puh-lease like they don't have sex.... well if that's how they treat sex conversations....maybe they don't have sex!
